Vinny Giles (Playing Captain)

The Virginia native was a three-time All-American golfer for the University of Georgia from 1962 to 1966. He impressively finished second at the U.S. Amateur three straight years from 1967 to 1969 before capturing victory in 1972. He claimed the British Amateur title three years later in 1975 and won the U.S. Senior Amateur in 2009. Giles played on four Walker Cup teams between 1969 and 1975, winning three times before captaining the 1993 squad to victory. Giles played in 11 professional majors, including the Masters Tournament and U.S. Open Championship where he was low amateur in 1968 (T22) and 1973 (17th) respectively. He has also finished as the low amateur in three U.S. Senior Open Championships (1993, 1996 and 1997). Giles was inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame in 1976 and the Southern Golf Association Hall of Fame in 1984. Off the links Giles, now 71, is one of the pioneers of the golf agent business. He graduated from the University of Virginia Law School in 1969 and has represented some of golf's elite players throughout his career, including Davis Love III, Lanny Wadkins, Justin Leonard, Ernie Els, Beth Daniel and Meg Mallon.

"I am honored to serve as the US captain for the inaugural Concession Cup," said Giles. "The spirit of international amateur competition has been, and continues to be, near and dear to my heart. This event was inspired by that spirit which makes it a perfect fit for me. I hope that the experience I have gained throughout my career as both a competitor and captain will serve our team well."
